Please excuse my absence for the past 24 hours. I am still basking in iPhone afterglow, having spent most of my time heavily engaged in taste testing the Jesus phone, putting it through its paces. Before I get into my impressions of the device (spoiler: It is AMAZING!) I thought I would share my experiences that led up to actually getting the phone. Some of the things I discovered from my adventure were just as enlightening, and entertaining, as the iPhone itself. Read the rest of this entry »

That right. The first iPhone we got in our hands - we took the mother apart. Read on for pictures and (coming in just a bit) video of the guts of the iPhone. Hint: it’s tightly packed and uses an ARM processor with an Apple logo. Hint 2: This iPhone - it’s dead Jim.
Read on to see the fruits of our “IPHONE SMASH” labors and check back a little late tonight for the full take-apart video - including tips for how to (and how NOT to) take apart an iPhone.
Update: Ready to cringe? Check out our disassembly video, below. And by “disassembly” we really do mean “destruction.” But our pain is your gain - there’s plenty of great details in the vid.

If you wondering why I’m not posting, it’s because I have not WiFi access at all.? Not a drop. But others are streaming.

I now regret drinking that half-liter serving of coke at McDonalds. Now comes the realization that i can’t leave my spot in line. I knew I should have packed an adult diaper before leaving home.

Well here I am, as the song says, wasting my time in the waiting line. What in god’s name can I do to pass the time for the next five bloody hours? WiFi hotspots are few and far between, those that are available are either private networks or open but extremely weak. sigh

Mike’s in line at the Mall of America - lucky number 13! Which means that a) at least one of the proprietors this website, which is dedicated to the iPhone, will actually have an actual iPhone in their hands, b) he has been there since 7am CST, and c) he has a good long wait ahead of him.
As Mike mentioned in his post below, news is taking a back seat to getting an iPhone today. However, you can keep an eye on this post right here for more pictures and updates of the Mall of America’s Apple Store iPhone craziness throughout the day.

So now we know how iPhone will handle RSS, and as we feared it’s through Safari. Apple has developed RSS viewing through a Safari-based web app (reader.mac.com). However, iPhone should be able to support my favorite RSS solutions; Google Reader. Can’t wait to try that out.

Think Secret posted a screenshot gallery flaunting the iPhone user interface. One of the images depicts mail services supported by the email application, where an button for Microsoft Exchange appears. Now before you go wetting yourself don’t get too excited because this still doesn’t mean iPhone supports DirectPush. More likely this is simply an option for Exchange IMAP support. Sorry.

If only. It looks to be a busy day today; I’ll be scrambling to the Mall of America shortly to start out the iPhone line, maybe shoot some video interviews for posting over the weekend or next week, and I’ll be posting throughout the day if interesting things pop up. It’s likely that I’ll see the folks from Technology Evangelist as they’ll be doing a little iPhone-waiting hootenanny of their own.
Zoho has optimized their online office suite “iZoho” for the iPhone. You do have to sign in and register to use it, but registration is free.
