My problem with the Mail app on iPhone is that it simply does not respond. It does load up and checks for new mail but then after that nothing happens and Mail freezes. I then had to hit the button to get out. Does anyone else have that problem?

I've had mail problems, but not like this. My non-customized iphone's mail app freezes during any inbox management process when my inbox has over 50 messages.

While trying to delete multiple messages (a major pain in the a$$) in my only (POP) account, it randomly freezes for up to 4 seconds while it polls something on the network. It is a really frustrating process.

Yeah if you dont have a bunch of iphone hackware on your phone, like ssh or some of the new “3rd party” apps, the restore process takes like 3 minutes and actually backsup all of your settings, recent calls, voicemails, exc so you have the option to bring those things back after the restore, from there of course the sync process can take a little while depending on the amount of music/video you’ve got on there. Having come from the WM5 smartphone world I totally understand the severe gut reaction that comes from even hearing the phrase “hard reset” because it truly was a pain the A** to get everything back, but as you said, thats pretty much a non-issue (for better or worse) on the iphone…good luck!

I had thought of that but chose to avoid this solution because past experience with backup/restores on other Smartphone platforms always prove to be a colossal pain in the ***. Most of that related to the painstaking task of reinstalling software which is thankfully, yet unfortunate at the same time, a problem iPhone doesn’t afford.

Over the weekend I might hard reset the device, just for grins, to see that fleshes out the bad code.

this may be obvious and you might have already down it but try a full restore and then see if it still craps out. I had a similar isselue and have not seen it again since ding full restore.

Well I know for certain that my case is not unique, though I am in no way claiming that it's common to every iPhone. I have corresponded with other iPhone users who have similar experiences since this update was released.

@Rony, I think the problem is definitely IMAP related, including my Exchange account (also IMAP). It seems from appearance that Mail stalls while checking for new mail. So it's either connection latency or something else. Not sure what yet.

But as I said, Apple needs to investigate and resovle the matter post-haste.

I have the exact same situation with my iphone. now my imap folders show up, but it causes my mail app to crash all the time. and it never shows on the home screen new email indicator unless the email is in the root folder of the imap account.
