The Free iPhone Video Recorder - Cycorder
If you have been missing that all-important video recorder functionality for your iPhone, look no further than Cycorder. Now before you get all excited let me first say the only way you will be able to get this app is to have a jailbroken phone along with Cydia.
Jay Freeman, the author of other jailbroken apps such as Cydia and Winterboard, released Cycorder. It does have ads, but I can assure they do not get in your way. Just keep in mind these ads are keeping this app free for all of us.
Cycorder’s video is shockingly decent for a cell phone video recorder. Recording in .mov format, Cycorder gets anywhere from 7-15 frames per second. It did not support audio when it was first released, but it does now. An update has just been released and it finally supports audio, though this clip does not contain any.
To get Cycorder simply go into Cydia and you will see it on the “Featured Packages” list on the front page. Download and enjoy!

@Nikhil
Check the link out again. There is no mention of 60 fps… That is no way possible on the iPhone. Here is a quote from the link you provided.
“but right now i can capture 2mp quality at 10fps for 10 seconds.. when i lower the quality to normal phone size .mov i should be able to get a higher fps and a minute of video at least.”
This is no where near as good as Cycorder as you are not limited in recording time and Cycorder reaches 15 fps.

why can’t something like this show up in the app store? The lack of video recording has emerged as my biggest problem with my iPhone, and while I’d love to get this, I am not jailbreaking my phone. Is there a reason why an app like this is NOT in the App Store?

jason - the official iPhone SDK offers very limited access to the camera.
essentially, when you use the camera in any official iPhone app, it launches a default camera application. this application just takes a picture and then offers you the option to retake the photo or hand-off the photo data to the application you were originally using.

And this is why people will still/always be jailbreaking the iPhone. Basically apple opened the iPhone up enough to get people off its back but still have a tight grip on what devs can and cant do. I swear apple is acting more and more like the “big brother” charactor in their 1984 commercial every second.
I love my iPhone but I hate apple

Apple need to sort this out. EVERYONE wants a video recorder, and yet the only way they can get it is by jailbreaking their iPhone.
Apple don’t want people to jailbreak, so it doesn’t take a genius to work out that they should offer a video recorder app through the app store. There’s two or three available right now, so pick one APPLE.

I totally a agree, apple needs to allow an app to be released or even release it themvselves! I’ve been waiting long eneough!!

Using WinSCP or any other SCP program, go to /private/var/mobile/Media/Videos, the files must be there.
I guess there is no other way to get them.
