This is ridiculous!! Nike+ is my most favorite piece of technology EVER. I was so excited to be able to add GPS to my run data, pretty bummed to find out that it wont work on my phone. You screwed that one up Nike/Apple.

In theory you should be able to do build a similar system w/out chips. Speed and distance could be calculated by GPS.

Those numbers don't represent the TIME, They represent DISTANCE. Hence the symbols for Feet and Meters. I believe they are showing the display for the Nike App. as this is clearly what the write up is about.

This makes absolutely no sense. What possible reason could exist to implement this for iPod Touch but not the iPhone?

BTW, what wireless protocol does the Nike+ system use? Is it Bluetooth? If so, I would think a simple software update to "flip the switch" is all that would be necessary to allow iPhones this capability.

Forget being able to record nike+ date (while running), just give me an iPhone app that lets me view the NikePlus.com site! Damn flash site, damn lack of flash support, damn lack of Nike+ app for the iPhone!

I hope that Gizmodo pic is a fake, since the symbols shown in the time number are not those of minutes and seconds. They are quote marks (or an apostrophe for the first one). It's not like Apple to emply bad typography.
