I took the plunge and upgraded to 2.1. Have a 2G that I pwned a few weeks ago and upgraded from 1.1.4 to 2.0.

All seems OK, but interestingly Cydia and Installer and IM +All-in-One were zapped by the update.

WIFI to my AirPort Express works OK, but instead of the standard WIFI signal indicators I just have had a small o.

A bit of mucking around has now got back the proper signal indicators, although it reverts to a o when the phone is locked.

Couple of questions though, with a pwned iPhone, can I now connect to VOIP using a data connection rather than just WIFI and is there a good program available that will allow that.

Can I also tether my iPhone as a modem for my MacBook Pro and what is the best program for that.

Finally, I never actually used Cydia or Installer so can I now re-load them. If so, how and which would be the best to use.

Jailbreaking allows you many things such customization, camcorder, better camera, etc. In my opinion it makes the phone exactly as it was meant to be.

You still have everything functioning. There is no sacrifice.

Well, jailbreaking won’t give you flash player to start with.. camcorder yes, and everything will still function correctly like your appstore etc

I believe the WiFi issues with 2.1 are only related to Apple Wifi routers.

I have been wanting to jailbreak my phone for awhile. The reasons are Flash, Camcorder, and OrbLive. What are the pros/cons of jailbreaking? I have AT&T service so no SIM hack.

Does everything work with a jailbroken iPhone? Like YouTube, Appstore, email, ITunes, AT&T service, etc.?

I will wait until 2.1 is released and WinPwn'ed, along with the ITunes 8 hack. But any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you.

You may also want to wait on the v2.1.1 update as the new iPod Touch’s have been experiencing serious WiFi WPA/WPA2 issues:

Although if you continue to read it goes on to say that is just one example. They are really not that clear. But it is better to be safe than sorry. I would avoid upgrading tomorrow if I still had a jailbroken phone.

As their site says though, this attempt to thwart Jailbreakers avoids the Quickpwn’ers and people who didn’t need to modify iTunes to load a patched ipsw file. The disconnect is also only apparently if you take a fresh, non-pwned phone and try to sync it with a fully pwned phone (using winpwn or pwnage).
