David Pogue blogs a follow up to his scathing review of the BlackBerry Storm, and notes:
I’ve always thought that that vocal sub-population of Mac fans make up the world’s most watchful, most hostile grass-roots lobbying arm.
But now I see that I was wrong. There’s an even nastier one: the BlackBerry nuts.
So this is how they want to play it, eh? The iPhone starts beating the BlackBerry in sales (and Windows Mobile in market share!), so they put out the Storm to rain on the touchscreen parade, AND go after the title of craziest cult fanbase?
Think the cult of Apple will really let them get away with that?

As an Apple enthusiast myself, I’ve always been embarrassed by some of the extreme comments posted by other Apple fans all over the internet. The negativity, abuse, and downright vitriol is always troubling and really puts us (and Apple) all in a bad light.
So, at first I read this with amusement that other company’s fans are the same way. However, now, it just makes me sad that we can’t hold a civil conversation on any topic.

Storm blows iphone away face it takes away from the value of iphone itself and its name. Look at the features. Camera, stereo bluetooth, turn by turn gps, clickable screen, removable exchangeable battery, removable exchangeable expandable memory, much better 3g network, much better input options click and touch, I wont have to worry about RIM remotely accessing my phone. Use a storm for a few weeks then go back to iphone you will laugh at the toy. Oh and the name thingy. ” ITS A BLACKBERRY” The apple iphone name will never be taken as serious as RIMs Blackberry name. Apple may sell more iPhones to kids 11 to 18 years old. Look at the cartoon like interface on an iphone. When you want to get stuff done Get a BlackBerry plain and simple. Ive been asking this question and have yet to get any real answers. What feature of the Iphone out shines the Storm? Then ill ask you if you get wi-fi connectivity in the middle of nowhere.

@reflectiveraya As a previous blackberry user you must love the fact that your storms shoddily made clickable screen lacks that truly nessisary ability to “click” 2 buttons at once as in two finger typing and you have to let off the screen to type the next letter. Bottom line all the features in the world are nothing without a usable user interface.
Typed on an iPhone in about 70 seconds how long did your post take you from your storm? Oh yeah that’s right your browser is still rendering……………………………………………………………………………………………that’s better

Get real you think any one is going to believe you type 70 words per min on a iPhone? You are a joke. The whole point of the click screen is this. After you learn how it works it actually stimulates the brain and makes you feel you are pushing buttons. Its something the iphone can not do. I dont launch applications by accident that’s for sure. And my browser (opera mini) blows crappy safari out of the water as far a speed while the blackberry browser is no slouch at all. So what are you going on about the browser for when your stuck with ATT.

As far as analysts go ,not a single one I have seen gave a fair comparison to the iphone because they do not mention any of the features that kicks iphone butt. Analysts said betamax was better than vhs and hd dvd would defeat blueray. Analysts are in the pockets of corporate interests. Im speaking from fact. I have used both phones. I forgot to mention that the reason this story from Pouge got so much exposure is because Diabolical Google let the story get blown out of proportion. Dont forget Google has its own mobile os and phone. Both APPLE and Google are trying to control what you can do with their smartphones. YES GOOGLE BENEFITS FROM THIS BS REVIEW OF THE STORM. Find me one analysts that lists the real benefits of the storm. What it really is about is this. Google can pick and choose which stories reach news.google.com Go to news.yahoo.com and see if the storm reviews are still there. Then Go to news.ask.com and see if the stories about the storm are still there. psst go away you are unaware.

You’re a real idiot go back and read what I said. The iPhone is one of the best marketing campaigns of all times. Next to the iPod. Do you notice you dont see RIM commercials? Thats because rim doesn’t have to run commercials. By far its not about me loving the storm. Its about me comparing the g1 ( I HAVE 5) all going to be sold on ebay to the Iphone (android) is better in my honest experience and the Storm. I mean you keep running your mouth about how the iphone is a better phone but dont want to get to the facts. Oh and by the way Iphone sales are misleading. The iphone is still in far back third in total world wide smart phone sales. You really need to stop listening to every thing Google news says. @reflectivegays once again thank you for bringing more humor to my life but I don’t know if you care to try this take your storm leave 3g wifi ( oh wait you don’t have wifi ) and gps on and stream Internet radio for as long as you can and time it I got 9.5 hours out of a 3g. Then install a 16 gb memory card ( sorry again they max out at 8gb) and put 1438 songs 126 videos and 3347 photos on it and try to keep 1.3gb free for contacts mail calendars etc. When and only when you accomplish this with your overrated paperweight come back here and bore us with your bulls**t then when you fail go back to verizon (because your “facts” are wrong and the storm is NOT available across all networks) get your money back and buy a bold like all the other mindless nitwits who bought into the hype of a blackberry that could “compete” with the iPhone and were sadly dissapointed

Yes this only proves my point why your Iphone sucks. You need a garmin gps app for turn by turn gps. You need a landscape keyboard app You need a stereo Bluetooth app You need a copy and paste app You need a exchangeable battery app You need a 3g network extender app You need a app to get any thing done on the pos You really need the get a clue app The storm comes with the stuff that matters out of the box. Btw there are thousands of blackberry apps just not in a store run and controlled by rim. And the storm will run in touch and touch click mode be cause it can. Mini opera on my storm works with out screen clicks. This is why the storm is by far more advanced than an iphone. Forward looking this thing will beat the **** out of phone 3g And phone 3rd generation.

Tried your bb storm when it came out its a dud no wonder it was packaged with a manual and dvd disk so 8-18 year old consumer can learn how to use it. But can they??? I love that I can share my data on any on just about any other device. iPhone is a closed device with no real future because the name is becoming synonymous with kids the iphone trend is quickly dying just like the iPod. Thats why you see and hear of talks of a 99 dollar iPhone at walmart. Apple is not interested in innovation they are interested in market share at this point. What don’t you understand about… Not being able to change out the battery? This means hey dumb *** when the battery fails come buy a new phone. Or jump through hoops to get it fixed! And when it fails oh **** all my data is Opps? What don’t you understand about oh hey dumb *** we will not include vital functionality into the device so you have to buy it in the appstore? App store is freaking iTunes for iPhone software. What dont you get about that? In my honest opinion iPhone is way over hyped in sales, functionality, and usability. When apple start to see its sales slide they will drop you the next gen iPhone. Then it will come with an abundance of non standard and proprietary functionaly methods to keep you stupid. Your next iPhone will have a 32 gig sd card and a removable battery how *** backward is that? Your iPhone will be barely catching up to technology then. Every thing apple makes is SPEND MORE GET LESS and that includes macs, macbooks,iphones, ipods. They look nice but if you think smart people are going to sit back and let apple dictate the future of information technology with stupid devices that run a modified and then closed version of the freeBSD kernel you’re a fool. I still see blackberries from 7 years ago still in use. Apple means waste because they make devices that are to quickly throw away( if you have a first gen iPhone your a lamer). Ill have my storm when you get your 3 generation iPhone for 59.99 at wall mart. The storm has bugs true enough. But I’m surely not blind to a Google news search tactic that until now has only produced negative reviews of the storm when there are plenty of good reviews out there for the device. iPhones are cool.

The storm has failed because iphone users said it failed. Fourtunatly blackberry has a dedicated user base that apple will never take as hostages with devices made for dumb asses. I am willing to bet that the storm vs iphone war is the best thing for the storm marketing wise. Yes there is a real alternative to the iphone that holds the proven name of blackberry. Hmm no other touch screen device has brought so much excitement in the touch screen market since the iphone. This is a very smart tactic on the part of rim. That’s marketing 101. The short term christmas season fling google is having with bashing the storm will end and now you can see honest reviews that say iphones are cooler than the storm. Iphones are soooooooo kewl. Ill tell you what … When you can get something done on that pos iphone ill buy one. (basic functionality of a smart phone) as a secondary purchase tells me how well apple is able to market garbage products to the truly unaware. Match up the features and capabilities of any apple device with those any other device in its class then tell me how I know you like jerking it to the apple logo.
