Forget WinMo 7. Microsoft should buy Palm for Nova and just rename it WinMo. Nova's coming out sooner and hits the market segment that WinMo is supposed to play in. It takes a frienemy out and would put Microsoft on a more solid footing to compete with Google/Android. While they're at it they should just buy Yahoo! and their users and combine web with mobile to make it a race between them and Google.

Selling someone else's OS as their own is nothing new to Gates & Co. - anyone else remember DOS? And using Linux as a base is also nothing new in software. OSX is based on UNIX and seems to work just fine. They could take this concept to the desktop and make the next OS based on Linux as well and that would solve their interoperability issues.

This will never happen. Microsoft is too proud to do it, but wouldn't it be interesting...

MS will never catch up to the awesomeness of the iPhone! Apple will always remain one or more steps ahead, I'd love to see windows mobile on the iPhone, but we'll see what happens, microsoft phone? Hmmmm. I think apple should come up with a gaming machine and just rule the world!

What's the big surprise here? Windows wouldn't have existed in the first place if they hadn't stolen it back in the day.

They've never made anything decent themselves (except Excel).

It's clear to me.

MS is justifying where their product is now as part of their long term plan.

The truth is that no one planned for the iPhone to have as much success.

Not even Apple.
