Attack of the iClones: OPhone vs. iPhone

Android Central (via Gizmodo) brings us the latest in a long — long — line of… er… iPhone inspired smartphones. This one, however, will be running the Google mobile OS:
The OPhone is 1mm bigger than the original iPhone, has a dedicated camera button, 5MP camera, flash, microSD slot and 3.5mm headphone jack. Yeah. Sounds pretty flippin’ sweet to us too.
TiPb will reserve judgement until it launches, but it will be interesting to see Android on hardware other than the slider-trackball-touch G1. Won’t it?

Maybe Apple will step thier game up and give up an iPhone with a larger px camera, and one on the front for video chat. Then it would definately be set apart from it’s clones.

I hope Apple never adds a camera to the front, it would not look good. A 5mp camera with autofocus and good glass would be great. I think a flash would kill the battery life. If I need a flash, I will use a real camera and not a phone.

True you can get a real camera…or you can get a phone that has a good enough camera to take pictures so you do not have to carry another device with you everywhere you go. Not only that but almost every new phone now has a 5mp camera, meanwhile iPhone still has a 2mp. My old nextel phone has a 2mp and a flash!
Battery life being the problem? C’mon, why isn’t this a problem for the other phones. Maybe Apple should make the battery removable then. We are talking about phones here, not a computer. Removable batteries are important.
And how will the front camera not look good? The camera that is on the iphone is already subtle. Placing one on top right on the front side would not be noticeable.

Feel like in a real show, zooming the camera and viewing perfectly made fire effects! Take part in the crazy destruction!

A front camera lens that’s flush, like the back one is now, would constantly be smudged by the face and ear.

I’m real curious to see how Apple keeps up with all the wide open Android apps coming out to be used with all the hardware. There will be some very hard to beat handsets and the software to make them very functional…
