There may be one coming out in June—so I’m waiting. My guess is it’ll probably include more memory, possibly better camera, working on flash etc. Maybe a slightly different finish instead of the gloss.

MMS is not just for teeny popper girls, as well not everyone has email on their phones. so how do i send a photo of my son to my mom who doesn’t have email on her phone? she has to wait to go home to see a photo? thats bull. You dont get charged extra for mms, i don’t understand where you guys are getting your information from? also to if you buy a iphone now, lets say today you can still get an upgrade for a new iphone if it comes out in june with out paying full price they did it for the 3g anyone that has a old iphone no matter how long is able to get a upgrade at discount price.

Jeff: I agree on memory and background tasks. I wouldn’t mind a task manager but as a tool rather than app closer like it was on winmo standard.

why pay extra for mms you can just email them not a big deal. And all that background notifications and background apps would require a more powerful iphone try surfing full website after using mail and your ipod the iphone just falls apart. It would need more ram and have better memory management. If they release new hardware it will anger a lot of people that dropped 299 on their phone to one year later have to buy the bigger better iphone again!!!!!!!!!

I ditto that on Nicks request. I cant believe I'm about to say this but it looks like Apple has some catching and opening up to do against Palm. So I wouldnt expect new hardware the current hardware is fine. But a major OS upgrade to 3.0. Without a doubt Apple will have to have background notifications included, maybe even background apps. Widescreen txt/email/mms I say mms because Apple is going to need bring MMS into the fold they cant reasonable give a reason to not have it. Also with MMS will have to come video recording and maybe a video framework and allowing Qik! Lastly Apple will need to refine its AppStore policies, open it up a bit as far as the system goes and clamp down a bit on crappy quality. Also expect to see Facebook integration, Apple and Facebook seem pretty tight these days look at the new iWeb and iPhoto so that nice little profile pic and status update sync you see on the Palm Pre address book, expect the same from Apple.

I say expect because I would think Apple knows it has some actual competition and it would want to match those features while doing them better.

Lastly very snappy. OS will undergo further tightening and refinement expect it to run better than before apps launch quicker more responsive etc...

New hardware every year makes no sense, considering most of us locked in a 2 year contract when we picked one up. They do allow upgrades after 18 months, but that would still put anyone who upgraded in June out until December. I predict a software and memory upgrade this year, and possibly an iPhone Nano.
