Saturday Fun Video: Twouble with Twitter

Sure, our pal CrackBerry Kevin found this, but since the hero is clearly an iPhone user (and abuser!) we figured it was fair game for TiPb!

If, after watching it, you’re not scared straight off of Twitter, you can still follow TiPb @theiphoneblog as well as our super staff @backlon, @badash77, @ichadman, and @ibri, and our fabulous forum team, @jamesus, @msproductions, @skeetobite… and coming soon, @llofte. I’m @reneritchie, and here’s a #followfrenemy for @crackberrykevin as well.

If you use twitter, drop your username into the comments. If you don’t, feel free to tell us why not. Is it really so twoubling?

    I have an account but have never used it once. Makes no sense to me.

  2. Mike Says:

    @mikeerickson Have a great day all you tweets!

  3. Jan Says:

    @jpwhiteside It’s all in how you use it. For me, it’s become an alternative tech news source. And it’s not just news in the usual sense. It allows me to hear about other people’s daily experiences and random thoughts on tech that might not show up in my RSS reader. It can really be whatever you want it to be and I like that.

  4. AsunUnique Says:

    @asununique video is HILARIOUS!!! I agree w/ Jan I think its what you get out of twitter, that allows you to appreciate its services.

    I use mine primarily to network & find other law students, going through the hellish law school & fun to relate & share our experiences.

    Or you can just try to find random weird people, who have crazy tweets to get a good chuckle…

    Beware of the failwhale

  10. Tweger Says:

    I love how the Internet has gone from online journals, to blogging, to now tweeting. They get more and more condsensed. What’s next? You can’t get any shorter than tweeting…

    Or can you? insert scary music

    @tunnelrunner

    Facebook is still my favorite, but Twitter’s not far behind.

  14. Robin Says:

    I love Twitter. I prefer it to FaceBook because it gives me the updates in a much faster way instead of having to sift through who scored what on such game, and who’s poke someone.

    I dislike it so much that Ive got rid of my FaceBook account and only use Twitter. It only has people who I want on as well, whereas my FaceBook was getting filled with people who I didn’t really want to talk to.

    My s/n is robin_darke

    Why? Wouldn’t the time be better spent studying? How will this possibly help you in your career? Go out, have a few beers, then put the friends (or what you think are friends) on hold rather than wasting valuable time telling everyone the minutia of your day.

    Re watch the video if you still don’t understand what I’m talking about. It is SO right to the point. But it seems totally lost on you.

  17. GoJesusChrist Says:

    Icebike…..so sad you don’t know yet the Power of Twitter….. So sad my dear. Add me @gojesuschrist

  18. Steve Says:

    @icebike:

    Yeah, it’s baffling to me, too. I clicked on some of the people’s IDs mentioned in the article (to possibly get a better understanding of it than what I’ve had up until now), but I see comments that don’t even appear to be responses to one another. I don’t see any connection or relation between one comment and the ones above or below them. It just seems to be incoherent babbling for the sake of babbling… and everyone seems to be talking about something completely different. And Twitter’s web site is as much of a mystery to me as people’s tweets are.

    I’m not against it, or anything… to each their own. I just don’t get it. The person who made the video seems to be in agreement. It was well done.

    icebike & Steve,

    How do you expect to “know” something without actually having tried it? Steve, of course it looks jumbled to you, because its similar to jumping in mid conversation & trying to join in. You would be surprised the information u can glean off the site, if you knew what you were doing.

    Icebike

    cant really expect someone to spend every minute of their lives studying or working can you? Can you honestly say that you work the full 8 hours straight? of course not, u BS surf web, etc.

    Of course, we ALL have actually lead lives.. I can flip the script and say: instead of commenting on this site, why dont u go out and hang out instead of talking about something you barely have a understanding via a spoof video?

  21. Tweger Says:

    Arguing on the Internet is like winning the special olympics; even if you win, you’re still retarded.

  22. john Says:

    @mademan1…follow me!!!

  23. icebike Says:

    @AsunUnique

    But the video ISN’T a spoof. Its as close to the mark as anything I’ve seen on this topic.

    AND, fyi, I’ve used twitter. (not on the phone, since most of my day is in front of my computer). Ive tried it with family (20 somethings mostly), blogs, political candidates, colleges in my field. I gave up after three weeks. In that time I didn’t see one single tweet that enhanced my life in any way.

    Its pretty much a total waste of my time and I never saw a single person gain any real advantage from it. Instead of actually doing any research or coding, I found my staff hopping on twitter each time any little obstacle in their daily work appeared, and once they did, no further work was done that day.

    I finally had to ban it from our office, because twitter use expands to fill the entire work day at the expense of deadlines. People wonder why corporations outsource jobs out over seas, but they think nothing of wasting an afternoon gossiping in real-time.

    I understand that you like it. I’m not saying you shouldn’t. But its a wasteland for the vast majority of users.

  24. Steve Says:

    @AsunUnique:

    The article asks to state the reason “why” anyone here doesn’t use it. I simply answered the question. Go ahead and use it. Im just saying it’s not for me because I couldn’t try it even if I wanted to… I couldn’t figure out where to begin even when I was interested.

    IM, email, Facebook, MySpace, TiPb… they all make sense to me. Twitter? Makes no sense to me. Sorry.

  25. Matt Sawyers aka @msproductions Says:

    “You people have no friends!” LOL

    Some are freaked out by it while they use MySpace…MySpace freaks me out…

    I’ve used Twitter to challenge others (@llofte to get ice cream…,) asked @reneritchie ’s opinion about iPhone update, and have had lunch with people that I had previously known in the Twitter world… it’s a new world after all… hums tune

  26. Steve Says:

    Funny, I don’t see any mention of anyone using MySpace. :roll:
