Updated: Apple Bumps iTunes to 8.1.1, Adds Support for HD Movie Rentals
UPDATED: Apple has some brief notes on what’s new:
iTunes 8.1.1 adds support for renting HD movies and provides a number of bug fixes, including addressing issues with VoiceOver and syncing with iPhone or iPod touch.
iTunes 8.1, released last month, has just been given a minor point release update to 8.1.1, likely to provide what Apple verbosely refers to as “bug fixes, performance enhancements, and improved compatibility”. Hit Software Update if you gotta have it now, now, now, or wait and see what the early installers have to say before you leap.

Ugh, another 20 minute iTunes install after only 3 weeks?

Anyone find anything new?

UI wise, I didn’t notice anything new (yet). I use an iPhone and I REALLY wish they would do something about syncing contacts. When my Phone syncs, it takes FOR-EH-VER to sync contacts. I really do not change my contacts everyday or make major changes at all. Why does iTunes need to spend 10 minutes syncing contacts I do NOT change ?

iTunes is the worst element (weakest link) of using an iPhone. It is especially bad for those of us who use windows (most of the iPhone user base).

Why so apple can squeeze more $ out of me? it’s bad enough I need to buy a new iPhone every year but I have to be addicted to a desktop too?

@Roamingrican: Of course you gotta be addicted to a desktop too! That’s the whole point…that’s how Steve converted me from linux-on-desktop to OSX-on-desktop (I still run linux on my servers, and will for ever do that
Nothing integrates with an iphone/ipod better than iTunes running on OSX
