Want an Apple-Blessed Unlocked iPhone 3G for $799?
Buy.com is offering iPhon 3G, “officially” unlocked, for $799. We’re not sure if these are imported units from markets like Hong Kong or Taiwan, where Apple themselves sells unlocked units, or what the deal is, or if $799 is even a deal for you to not have to worry about Jailbreaking or cat and mouse games. But, if you have the extra bills in your pocket and alternate and international carrier support is worth the premium to you, you might want to check it out.
Anyone hitting the buy now button?

Visual Voicemail is an AT&T exclusive feature, its something they came up with for use with their service and servers…

I bought my company 5 iPhones in Dubai unlocked at a lower price point then this, even with the dollar conversion.
750 was how much they are there. And every where you go they are all unlocked.

You should come to Italy, $666 for the 8Gb model and $759 for the 16Gb.

It’s so bad that here in Australia Optus doesn’t provide visual voicemail… That would be an awsome feature that I’ve never used.

Re these Italian and Dubai Phones:
If ever there is a need to return them for warranty, you have to send them back to the country of origin. Apple stores in the states won’t touch them.
So unless the reseller is going to handle this for you in the event of trouble, you could find yourself out of luck unless you happen to travel to those places frequently.
With 4 lines of service, my group has had 7 iPhones. The risk of requiring a replacement is significant.

If you need to get iPhones for corporate sales or world traveler, I highly recommend American Wireless, they handled our corporate account for Blackberry and Apple devices and they have very good prices and also is the only provider for certified unlocked iPhones.

Does anybody know when using an unlocked 3G iPhone with t-mobile service, what are the applications that work exactly, and what are the applications that do not work on the iPhone? I was wondering because I was thinking of getting one, and still hold on to my t-mobile plan. Is it worth it? Can you still surf and use the internet, text, voicemail, etc?

I got my one from American Wireless retail store in Virginia and was very happy with it. The only thing is that I can not update the firmware because they said it will lock it back up. I was wondering if there is any way around it?
