I purchased the universal iGrip Universal. It is adjustable so I can even squeeze in my iphone when it is inside my Otterbox defender but mostly I use it with my iphone inside an iSkin and it fits perfectly. I attached the base mount to the dash of my Subaru Forester. The swivel head and the adjustable tilt of the arm meant i could angle my iphone exactly for optimum view and to avoid glare. The product is solid and it does not bounce around.

I purchased a product manufactured by this company and it didn't work The packaging claimed that they had a warranty and gave a phone number to call and/or an email to send for instructions on how to return the defective product. Nobody ever returns the emails or the phone messages, and noone ever answers the phone.

DO NOT BUY ANY PRODUCT FROM iGrip, HipGrip, or EarGrip

I too would like to know if it holds an iPhone with a protective shell on it. Currently, I just lay my phone in a cup holder, and pick it up to see who is calling.

On another note - For those looking for a leather clip on case that will hold an iPhone with a protective shell, I have found a solution. I have the Griffin Clarifi on my iPhone. The whole shabang fits perfectly in the leather clipon case the AT&T store sells for the Motorola Q.

does the iPhone fit in this if it has a case? and how does the suction cup holds on a plastic dashboard? doesn't it need glass?

Also, it’s mostly open on the bottom, so it’s easy to plug in and charge the phone while I drive. And since it’s not up in the window, there’s no crazy wires additionally blocking my view.

My favorite mount to use inside my car is the kind that goes in your center air vent, similar to this one:

I don’t have that specific one, just a generic cell phone mount, but it holds my iPhone just fine. I like that it’s about at eye level, easily within reach, and does not block my view of the road.

This looks great. I’ve been using a Griffin product that I had to modify with velcro and put in my cup holder in my Honda Civic. It gets the job done but its not in direct line of sight. I was wondering how well that sticks onto the dash? Does it use a suction cup type attachment or what? I just cant see how that thing can actually stay on the dash in the pictures. I would love to know how you did it.

Nice but it looks too much like a GPS mount which could get a window broken.
