Apple Releases iTunes 8.2, QuickTime 7.6.2
Available to developers in pre-release form to coincide with iPhone 3.0 Beta 4 and Beta 5, Apple has just pulled the switch on iTunes 8.2 for everyone. At the same time, they’ve also released QuickTime 7.6.2. Since QuickTime is a core technology to many Apple and Mac components, no doubt other updates (like GarageBand for Mac, pictures above) will follow.

All we need now is the OS 3.0 final release.

Windows has not received the update, so is it a Mac Only update? Or is it just me.

Does this lock out changing your carriar file (ipcc) file on your iPhone like the last prerelease did?

@Ash: It is just you. Click Check for Update. It worked for me.

What are the differences between 8.2 and 8.1?

@Joost:
Nothing obvious, from my perspective.
I bet they just wanted to get it out there ahead of time to handle new features in OS 3.0.
Maybe to plug the Palm Pre hole ahead of their launch just to pull Palm’s chain a bit.

it would have been nice if they released it the same day as palm pre

My guess is now the Palm Pre won’t work with iTunes when it launches. Never before has iTunes been updated before a major announcement. Coincidence, I don’t think so!

I ran the update and now my iTunes closes seconds into attempting opening. Does anyone know how to fix this, if so, please send me a message on my twitter.

It was updated just before 2.2.1.
