iPhone Competition: Nokia N97 First Impressions
Our friend Matt Miller over at sister-site NokiaExperts has just posted up his first impressions of the white Nokia N97. Like most premium handsets over the last few years, the N97 has been played up as another “iPhone killer” so we figured we’d better keep an eye on it at well.
What’s Matt’s take away? Good but not great if we’re reading it right, though Nokia is promising updates that might make it even better.
Head on over to NokiaExperts for the full rundown and video overview, and let us know what you think!

Really nice hardware but in the end the Symbian OS is just no match to iPhone OS.

I’m impressed with the hardware…gotta say it looks kinda **** like the iPhone. But the OS looks like ****. After using an iphone 3g (jailbroken) for about 1 year I don’t think I could stand that OS.

In many ways, Symbian OS is much more advanced than the iPhone OS. But not in the UI.
Also, the n97 has an old 420mhz processor, no 3d accceleration, 128mb of RAM, making it clearly underpowered vs the 3GS

Are you saying Symbian is more advanced then MacOS (which is the iPhone OS is based on) I’d guess not.

Has a mobile OS, it IS. Just as an example it is much more efficient in terms of RAM and battery usage. My previous symbian phone had 128mb of RAM like the iphone 3G…RAM after boot = 80mb. Iphone 3G, RAM after boot = 40mb.
But like i said, current user interface sucks.

I think it’s a beautiful phone. Definitely my next phone.
