OMG I CANT WAIT TO GET MY FIRST I-PHONE FRIDAY DIS ONLY IS ADDEN TO MY ANTICIPATION,…!!!
June 16th, 2009 at 2:08 pm
it does run FAST
June 16th, 2009 at 2:47 pm
Every app starts just as fast as on my 3g as i tested with starting the apps at the same second in the video… Also the startup time from the phone itself is just the same ! Even going from landscape to normal turns at exacly the same time… I wanted to get the 3G S, i expected a little more in speed though :s
June 16th, 2009 at 2:54 pm
I don’t see fingerprints!
June 16th, 2009 at 2:55 pm
I will report back in a few hours after my 16Mb connection finishes buffering this video. Is it just me or is YouTube useless these days?
June 16th, 2009 at 2:56 pm
@Glenn you must have a special iPhone 3G because opening messaging and settings are EASILY twice as fast in this video.
And yes the accelerometer is still slow. I think they need a new accelerometer maybe? The Pre’s orientation switching is faster.
June 16th, 2009 at 3:07 pm
@Glen
I know 4 iPhones that have way slower app start up times then on the vid, so you must have one heck of a special deluxe iPhone…
June 16th, 2009 at 3:11 pm
@Glenn is just running his mouth, i have my FRESHLY Restored (for a test in speed) Freshly restored 3G sitting right here in my Lap, and i opened up several apps, it’s still the same normal speed, The iPhone 3Gs in this video is SUPER fast compared to the 3G
the new 3Gs is killer fast!!!!
June 16th, 2009 at 3:11 pm
Okay, I’m not trying to be hard, but i was expecting it to be much faster than was shown. Although, I did like the video and camera application!! Anyway, come on iPhone 4G!!!
June 16th, 2009 at 3:19 pm
Yes, but the movement to landscape seems much smoother than on my 3G
June 16th, 2009 at 3:28 pm
The message app is the only one slower here, but i guess that’s because there are alot of messages in there to load… The thing that bugs me the most is when loading webpages real slow even on wifi sometimes and start typing away and the letters only appear 3 seconds later all at the same time on the 3g.
June 16th, 2009 at 3:49 pm
Alright I’m on the fence again. Was really considering a 3gs but I don’t see any significant speed improvements.
June 16th, 2009 at 3:51 pm
I’m running the 3.0 OS right now on the 3G,
and i compared the loading times of the Voice Memo App’s functions to that on the video and pressing the button to pull up my list of memos was 3 seconds slower.
Either you guys are blind? or maybe need to look a little bit harder, the 3Gs is Wayyyy faster and Snappier.
I can’t wait to see what games will be like.
June 16th, 2009 at 3:56 pm
Yeah Glenn’s stopwatch is broken.
June 16th, 2009 at 3:58 pm
Can we in europe download the 3.0 software update at 12.01 tonight?
June 16th, 2009 at 4:03 pm
@iPhoneMilk I don’t think anyone is denying that there is a speed increase, but I was expecting more than just 3 seconds…. Wayyyyyy faster and Snappier no… A little faster yes!!! The key word is “significant” as Truth stated. We are all iPhone fanboys/lovers, but you need to take your super fanboy glasses off. I watched the video several times, even comparing it to my own 3G, and all I can say is thats all?? Maybe the user in the video needed to restart his iPhone are something??
June 16th, 2009 at 4:09 pm
2x faster is more significant on longer processes. You can’t judge the speed simply on launching the built in apps. 2x is 2x. Just think about loading a webpage that takes 60secs on the 3G only taking 30secs on the 3G s.
June 16th, 2009 at 4:12 pm
I also wanna buy the 3G S, because i see lots of potential in the faster cpu and specially more RAM for the crashes. I just expected more from startup time and all… the startup time from the device is really the same as my 3g with 3.0GM on it… :s shouldn’t the 3G S be at least a bit faster ? It is even al clean install on the 3G S. But as stated, alot will depend on the browser comparison.
June 16th, 2009 at 4:19 pm
Maybe with more time and newer updates, we will see the “faster” 3GS speeds. I’m just thinking they might not have it optimized yet for the new faster cpu and more RAM.
June 16th, 2009 at 4:35 pm
oh my gosh that music
Overall nice video, but still not sold.
June 16th, 2009 at 4:51 pm
10 minutes from 12 pm. Will be the 3.0 software update avaiable?
June 16th, 2009 at 5:01 pm
12.01 where is the software update?!
June 16th, 2009 at 5:27 pm
@MRidgeway
I hear what you’re saying man, but you should also take into account how bad of a video this is in the first place.
I mean did he load any games and show us any of that? Nope. Did he load up any Websites? Nope. So overall even for bashing on the so called Non existant speed we don’t have an accurate take on it from this video.
I already made a comment on his youtube asking him to make a new video.
June 16th, 2009 at 5:31 pm
@10 Minutes: Since Apple is in California, they will probably release it at 12:00 p.m Pacific time.
June 16th, 2009 at 6:33 pm
I don’t get it? Isn’t it only like 4.30pm on the 16th in California right now?
June 16th, 2009 at 7:11 pm
I am also running 3.0GM and the 3Gs is very clearly faster in everything shown in the video. If someone’s 3G is equally fast then they need to throw it up on eBay because it is a rare collectors item.
June 16th, 2009 at 8:02 pm
Vote now: iPhone or Palm Pre? http://answers.polldaddy.com/poll/1707306/
June 16th, 2009 at 8:09 pm
Ooooh buttery smooth, drooling. I still see f*%#ing fingerprints, oleophobic my *$$!
June 16th, 2009 at 9:10 pm
3GS may be a lot faster, but this video is not doing the iPhone any justice right now. Honestly, I hope the 3GS is as fast as some of you are saying, but from this video, it leaves a lot to be desired.
June 16th, 2009 at 10:18 pm
I think people aren’t giving Apple enough credit here. After using my 3G for almost an entire year now, the only gripes that I had with it were solved by the 3.0 software or by the spec increases in the 3G S. Why are people complaining that the phone is smoking fast now? This video shows a phone that rips the 3G on speed! Unfortunately, I will not lay down $399 and will stick with the 3G but if I could get it at the subsidized price, I would. Holy cow, this is fast! I hope they release the new software at 12:00 AM eastern because we are almost there iPhone faithful!!
June 16th, 2009 at 10:19 pm
@pcdsim – The screen is oleophobic but you still have to wipe it off with a cloth of some kind, it doesn’t vaporize oil automatically it just makes it easier to clean.
June 17th, 2009 at 4:06 am
Yep, the 3GS is fast!
