Steve Jobs without any doubt is a great company leader with brilliant ideas and genius businessman.
His health will surely affect on company business, but not in an extensive scale.
I hope and surely believe that he is going to be ok and be back to his work...
What has happened with his lever transplantation issue is really sth. One can argue that is life or stongers or wealthier ones survive in the nature. I don't think that is appropriate for people.

John Gruber (Daring Fireball) has written a lot about Jobs and the liver transplant story ( http://daringfireball.net/2009/06/wsjstevejobslivertransplant ). He had this link to a press release from the hospital that performed the procedure (http://www.methodisthealth.org/static/methodist/doc/Jobs-media-statement.pdf) that spells out exactly why he got the liver ahead of others. Explains why he went to Tennessee instead of just staying in California and also why he got it so fast.

Thanks for the info.

I just don't really know how to look at that. I'm a big ole softy, LOL.
So I just see it as it being wrong that someone with money can basically push their way through the line. While some people have been waiting there for what seems an eternity

But at the same time...he can't be blamed too much because it's the healthcare system that allowed him to do it.

Ugh...

Well I'm not gonna strain too much thinking about it. I am glad he's healthy. And hope those that are still on that list are able to experience the same "second chance" at life. -sigh-

@iDavey

I have to Lean to agree with JohnZero a little bit more on this one, it's not Steve's Fault for being rich... and we do have a bad health care system.

that being said, UNIVERSAL Healthcare would not make the situation any better either, it would make it even worse as well.

I have to think about something like a transplant being a bad situation NO MATTER what the policies are.

The fact is.. if you have 50 Available Livers to transplant into people

and you have 100 people waiting for a liver,

50 of those people are going to die, and 50 will survive.

you can't BLAME those 50 who are surviving for anything no matter WHAT the policy is... well unless of course they broke into the building and stole it.

But paying money for something to get it sooner isn't really stealing.. that's just Human nature when it comes to Bartor and trade..

The REAL Sad truth is... those 50 people out of 100 are going to die, period end of story.. that's life.

At least we have the technology to save the other 50... well at least for now we do.

Look... Steve used his wealth to be willing to travel at very short notice, something that is not circumventing the waiting process, though it is a process that favors the wealthy. That's not his fault - its a function of the insane health care system we have in the US.

Serious question...and I don't know if this is true or not.

But it's being said that Steve basically circumvented the waiting process of getting his liver.

I don't know if this is truth or just something said to attack the man.
But if it IS true, this really hurts me. How so many people are waiting for a life saving thing. And he somehow (well of course with money) jumps the line...making the folks that have waited so long, wait even longer.

I pray this is just something to tarnish his name. Because if it's not...I've really lost respect for a man I held very high in the tech and business world.
