Snow Leopard Shows iPhone Love… For Tethering!

Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard does indeed have some “refinements and enhancements” for the iPhone, namely a brand spanking new iPhone logo in System Preferences > Network when you’re tethered via the iPhone.
Yeah, okay, we know — AT&T users need do nothing but raise their fists and yell out a “KAAAAAAHHHHHHNNNN!” like scream at the gaping lack of functionality they’re still enduring. But at least you can take the smallest, most infinitesimal comforts in knowing that — if you’re a Mac — you’ll get a spiffy new icon to go with your no doubt exorbitantly overcharged tethering option.
If it ever becomes available.

This is cool! It would be great if I could set my laptop to only use the iphone sparingly so I don’t blast through more than my whole months data cap and get stung with some huge overage charges because it wanted to download a huge system update in the background.

Ads said End of Summer. Is that the unofficiAl end, Labor Day, next week? Or the official end, around Sept. 21?

If your 3G coverage is decent, you can play WoW while tethering on AT&T. I do it all the time in a desperate attempt to get AT&T to end my contract early. I use 50 gigs a month.
Not so much as a peep from them.
Maybe I need to try bittorrent…

I’d just like to have 3G available where I have to travel. Bogus AT&T!

AT&T will likely charge too much to want to use this.

lol I tether my iPhone using Rogers now and again. Our Internet has been out the last week though so I’ve been using it heavily and have almost used my 6GB. I downloaded an iTunes movie and have been streaming tv shows. It works incredibly well.

I’m really digging Snow Leopard, but I have my fair share of qualms as well. No more cut and pasting Address Book contacts??? Check the rest out here:

I tried going to http://www.benm.at to download tether mobileconfig, but can’t find it?
Also, does a new 3.1 update (when it comes) eliminate the tether config file so I have to download it again?

Hi, My tethering worked fine until I installed snow leopard or possibly the ipod/iphone compatibility update. Now it just goes bing twice when I plug it in and no ethernet devices show up in system preferences.
Any one else got this problem? Anyone got a fix for it?
