The Competition: BlackBerry Storm 2 — Do Over?
BlackBerry Storm2, RIM’s second bite at Apple’s multi-touch, black slab iPhone form factor, is just about ready for prime time, and as always, our sibling site CrackBerry.com has the complete Storm2 review. Kevin sums it up thusly:
The Storm2 fixes many of the BlackBerry Storm’s outstanding issues and makes a ton of incremental improvements, all of which add up to something that feels noticeably better. In a way that never quite applied to the original Storm, the Storm2 could legitimately be called the flagship BlackBerry.
Sounds fair to us! The Storm too got little-to-no love for RIM, even from RIM, but Storm 2 sounds like it fixes a lot of what went wrong the first time around. The build quality is better and that monstrous single-button screen of carpal tunnel has been replaced by a more sophisticated, and natural-typing friendly multi-press technology.
Sure, it’s still got that trusty, rusty BlackBerry J2ME OS and middling browser (for now) but with App World this time around, and Verizon’s network power (hey, it’s better than their chart-making power!) behind it, those users whose venn-diagram intersects CDMA with BlackBerry with touchscreen might finally have a usable option.
Check out the full review, then let us know if Apple has anything to worry about, berry-wise…

I’d pick it over Android. But iPhone is a long way ahead now!

last time I checked the iPhone 3G[s] wasn’t a big improvement from the iPhone 3G. the 3.0 OS was more anticipated than anything else…

NO WAY!!!!.. JavaScript turned on by Default? HOLY ****… THAT’S TOTALLY AWESOME!!!!
Blackberry fan-boy’s are clutching at straws with this phone.

Jon it’s a way different iPhone. Lots of improvements. Biggest one being when they roll out the 7.2 the old 3G won’t do it. Then there’s the video camera. And 3mp still camera. Voice control. Compass. And it’s got a 600 MHz processor. Compared to 400. And 256 mega of ram vs 128. Augmented reality. There are a tin of things is does over the older one.

Seen a few video demonstrations of this not impressed at all. When will Rim get the message, it’s all about the software stupid!

It looks like a nice phone. I will have to mess with one myself when they come out. I think it will be a nice improvement over the first Storm. In terms of iPhone competitiveness, however, too little too late. RIM has failed on this concept here and they are way too far behind the iPhone at this point in time to produce a legitimate contender to take away market share from Apple.

I bought the Storm 1 the day it cam out. The Storm 2 is the reason I switched to the iphone (best decision I have ever made!!!) It pissed me off that they were going to release another phone without fixing the MANY MANY problems the first one had. The Storm is still an inferior phone by far!!! I will never look back!!!

Storm 2 > iPhone 3GS

the surepress idea just really isnt catchy..it would have meant alot more if it would have worked the first time around but i cant see anybody grasp the idea that its a cool feature anymore…if there was someway, like an option in settings, to turn the clicking off and just use the touchscreen…maybe that might sell a few more storm2’s…idk..as a storm owner, i dont feel like they did enough improvements to trick me into a new 2 year contract. i have 2 more lines i can add and the iphone for verizon is going on one of them
needless to say, i very doubt it will happen with the latest, “theres a map for that” commercial and the android merge…

I waited in line for 3 hours for storm 1 had it for 5 days TRIED to like and returned it and now i am officially iPhone for life!!!
