Time. There’s never enough of it, we’re always running out of it, we can’t make more of it, and we spend loads of cash on devices to help us manage it. How often do you use your iPhone to help you manage your time better? Sure, there’s a calendar. But what about the Clock app? How often do you use it to set alarms? What about the stopwatch — only good for timing your running or swimming laps?
Speaking of time — it’s time for this week’s Tip, so take a little of your time now and read on about using your iPhone Clock!
Hold +, and press Right, Right, Left, Left, 2, 2. Do this quickly. Oh, and by the way, do this at the “Chapter Select” screen. Sounds simple enough, right? What does this mean, anyway? A new dance step? Marching orders? Or a way to unleash your weapons mojo playing Call of Duty 3 on your Wii? You may not be able to hook up your iPhone to your Wii and use the accelerometer (yet), but your iPhone + a handy web app may make your Wii experience more lively (and give you the power to beat your kid’s high score). Press Right, Right, then click Left on your mouse button to read on!

One huge benefit of the iPhone’s superb web browser are all the web applications that have sprouted up since the iPhone’s release. Just like in Field of Dreams, if you build it, they (developers) will come. Among the plethora of web apps available, several social networking sites have popped up and this week’s Tip is about a unique angle on this genre. Floort at Floort.com is a site that boasts “We know what you’re thinking”, and as a matter of fact, they DO! Read on for this week’s Tip and how you can give someone else (or even the world) a piece of your mind!

Can your iPhone be an electronic wallet? Maybe you are one of THOSE people that carries a massive, 2-inch-thick wallet stuffed with numerous credit cards, membership cards, fast-food punch cards, license, insurance card, etc. What if you could carry your iPhone instead of your wallet? Read this week’s Tip to find out how!
The iPhone is sensor-ific. It can sense if it’s turned sideways, held up close to your face, and whether or not you are in a dark room or out in the sunlight. This week’s Tip o’ the Week is a simple way to exploit one of the sensors on your iPhone to save you some steps and power at the same time. Curious? Read on for the Tip!
A strange thing happens around the corporate office when I whip out my iPhone and check email, place a call, or browse Safari. There is first silence, then Also Sprach Zarathustra (theme from 2001: A Space Odyssey) slowly builds to a crescendo and my office colleagues gather like early man around the mysterious black monolith.
You see, like most offices across the land, we use mostly Blackberries. Now, I’m not sayin’ that these BB toters are Neanderthal, pre-man or apes; I mean, they have to have opposable thumbs to work the keyboard, right? I’m merely pointing out that my iPhone is the ONLY iPhone on the premises and somehow I get my work done and keep track of my schedule, contacts and email, just like everyone else. Read on to see if your iPhone can survive in a hostile work environment!
Once I finally trained myself to no longer reflexively reach for a stylus on my iPhone, it truly hit me that the world was at my fingertips (warning: pun alert). Flipping through photo albums with the flick of my finger just doesn’t get old. Pinching text and photos to fit on the screen or expanding the same with my thumb and index finger was intuitive from the time my iPhone came out of the box.
I like the little things, like tapping the very top of the screen to return to the top of a web page after scrolling down for miles. Conversely, it would be nice to have a similar mechanism for instantly jumping to the bottom, eh?

I remember well the days of yore when I had a whopping 5 channels to choose from for my viewing pleasure. Now before you start doing some quick math and send me Geritol for my birthday, I was just a wee lad then. Although I didn’t have much in the way of choices, I made sure to never miss an episode of “The Six Million Dollar Man”, re-runs of “Star Trek”, and a generous helping of “Sesame Street” and “Electric Company”. I also had to (gasp!) actually GET UP off the couch, WALK to the t.v., and MANUALLY change the channel! Ahhhh, those were the days.
Times have certainly changed. The average home now has about 114 channels to choose from. I switched to DirectTV recently and I get lost in the maze of menus and virtual cornucopia of channels and programming to choose from. You may be wondering what all of this may have to do with your iPhone. HARK! There is a handy AOL site designed just for the iPhone that can help you navigate the ever-expanding universe of televised entertainment!
