So just how many countries are going to get the next iPhone anyway?
India seems to be the newest member of “What country is getting the iPhone next”. It seems like a new pops up every day. Who is the newest member? India.
Flash and Silverlight make Safari crash?
You need Safari for this? Just kidding.
Looking for an alternative search for your iPhone? Though not “built in”, AOL’s mobile search optimized for iPhone is surprisingly good. Let’s take a look at what makes it so good!
It’s Pretty
When you search in Google, specifically Google Mobile for iPhone, you have a neat feature: it gives you suggestions as you type. After that, I don’t think that Google mobile does anything specifically well, other than meaningful searches. This is what sets AOL search apart from its competition, it displays the results well. Its closest competitor, Yahoo One Search renders poorly on the iPhone in my opinion, the fonts are too large among other issues. The AOL search experience feels right.
Information is broken into sections. Let’s see how a simple search for “movies” is rendered after I have set my default location.

Nike and iPhone sitting in a tree…
Apple already has this gig with other iPods, but is the iPhone now going to hook up too? I sure would like to hook up my iPhone to track information while I exercise.
Novell GroupWise to talk to iPhone?
What? More synchronization coming to the iPhone besides Microsoft’s Active Sync? It appears so, thorough 3rd party support.
Not to be confused with a news or RSS reader, Reader is meant for reading text documents, either an ebook or document. Sound interesting? Look no further than dBelement’s Reader web app for iPhone. This is a great idea for a web app and I really see innovation here that could lead to the way that we handle document creation tools on the iPhone. Let’s take a closer look…
Can’t wait till iPhone firmware 2.0 to get your corporate calendar on your iPhone? Here is a great trick to get your enterprise appointments onto you’re your iPhone.
What you will need:
- Novell GroupWise (tested, though should work with other mail applications)
- A Google Account with:
- Gmail
- Google Calendar
For the bonuses, you will need:
A calendar that can subscribe to .ics files (iCal) I found the basics of this idea here, but have elaborated it to iCal which works great for me.
According to GWcheck it is:
Novell is committed to providing a solution that allows users access to their email, calendar and contacts on the iPhone. As the SDK was just released, we are still working out the details and will announce more specific plans when appropriate. There has been speculation from other sources about Lotus Notes working on the iPhone as well.
There are still plenty of organizations out there that do not use Microsoft Exchange. Those that don’t, typically use RIM’s BlackBerry Enterprise Server solution. It will be nice to see either RIM jump on board the iPhone bandwagon (I don’t see that happening) or companies like Novell working with other visionaries to bring their services to Apple’s iPhone.

iPhone in 60-days flip-flop
What I consider one of the biggest sotries of the week Was Walt Mossberg letting slip that the 3G iPhone would be out in “60 days” will it come to pass?
Ways to extend .Mac… to iPhone?
I am really excited for this one. I want to have the .Mac experience on my iPhone… you know, useful things like iDisk and Back to my Mac… but will it happen?
Social networking is all the rage these days. From Facebook to MySpace, everyone has a web presence. Well, now the iPhone crowd has an iPhone only experience, it’s called iRovr. Be prepared to enter the stream…
iRovr is designed to work exclusively on the iPhone. You can log in from a desktop browser, but it is still formatted for our favorite mobile device.
The Setup
The configuration for iRovr is quite clever. You setup and account with your email. Once you do this, iRovr sends you several links to add to your Contacts on the iPhone. You receive a unique address for items such as:
- Photos: Send photos
- Videos: Send YouTube videos
- Blogs: Send a blog post in the form of an email
Bookmarks: via the send a link to this page in Safari

iPhone PWNED!
The iPhone Dev Team announce a tool called PWNED that will allow folks to load custom firmware onto their iPhones, totally bypassing a fully sanctioned Apple blessed OS… DOH!

The iPod observer has a great shot of what could be the “back” of Apple’s 3G iPhone. With the inventory running low across the country, could this be the next iteration? Will we know soon?
The iPhone is going on a year old and it would make sense for there to be a product refresh soon. But we are not even to the 12-month anniversary yet. What does Steve Jobs have up his sleeve?
I think the black back looks great. It appears to be “soft touch” and not a painted aluminum. It also does not appear to be a Colorware painted iPhone either. Could their be other product enhancements such as a front facing camera too? I think we need a shot of the iPhone from the front to be sure…
