For the first time ever, the complete iPhone Dev Team finally got together and met each other face to face. They gathered recently and gave a presentation at the Chaos Communication Congress in Berlin.
Keep in mind the video is 58 minutes long and they do go pretty deep but it is definitely a interesting thing to check out. My favorite part of the whole thing comes in around the 2 minute 30 second mark: there are 180 IP addresses inside Apple that the Dev Team have tracked who have “updated their quickpwn and pwnage tool on a regular basis”.
Very interesting indeed.

Well the day that has been oh so talked about here at TiPb has finally come. The black 8GB iPhone 3G model for $197, and the 16GB black or white model for $297. So much for those $99 rumors although, you will save a measly $2 compared to buying it at Apple or Best Buy (though AT&T does have the 8GB for $99 refurbished).
So pick your poison. If you do happen to pick one up at your local Walmart, please share your experience in the comments!

Well the holidays are right around the corner so why not give our readers one last Apps for Less before the new year.
Now is your chance to grab a very addictive game, Topple [iTunes Link], and you can’t complain about the price when it’s FREE. This is a limited time offer so be sure to grab it as soon as possible.
How many of you still require hands free voice dialing? Well if Apple will not give you what you want, you always have the 3rd party developers! Enter Voice Dial… [iTunes Link] It may not be 100% perfect, but it’s better than what you have already no?
Next up is a little app called Touch Physics. What is the goal of this game you ask? Simply to get the ball from the start to the star. To do this you will need to construct different objects on each level by drawing with your finger and everything is based on real physics. Worth a try, especially for $.99.
Enjoy these great savings!
Note to Developers: Are you a developer and have any apps in the App Store going on sale or that you simply think is a great deal? Contact us and let us know to include it in a future Apps for Less!
Ok, in case you have been missing all of the iPhone 3G unlock talk lately, the Dev-Team yesterday previewed their unlock software for all of us to see.
It will be available to anyone who wants it (and is still running the original base band!) on New Years Eve. Until then let the video above fill your craving! Enjoy!

So you say you updated to the latest Mac OS X 10.5.6 and wanted to jailbreak or unlock. Well the update severely hindered your ability to do that. The Dev-Team says it is a simple kernel bug and not a specific countermeasure by Apple, never the less, there is still a work around.
It’s a pretty straight forward fix actually, first you need to have administrator privileges. Then download the script file . Got it? Good, now continue on for the detailed instructions after the break!

It seems to be a trend now a days, some of the top dog game developers are jumping in the ring to push some of their hotter titles onto iPhone. Electronic Arts has just released one of their most popular titles, Sim City. Now enter Konami.
Konami has just dropped a bomb on iPhone gaming with the announcement of 4 titles.
- Dance Dance Revolution S Lite : From Late December, 2008 in Japan and North America
- Frogger : From Late December, 2008 in Japan, North America, and Europe
- Silent Hill The Escape : From Late December,2008 in Japan, North America, and Europe
- Metal Gear Solid Touch : Spring, 2009 in Japan, North America, and Europe
“Konami Mobile offers gamers nothing but the best by developing high quality, big-name titles with unparalleled mobile entertainment experiences,” said Anthony Borquez, Vice President of Konami Mobile and Online. “We are extremely excited to be working with Apple to introduce North American consumers with popular franchises that are compatible with the iPhone and iPod’s advanced technologies.”
Any gamers out there getting excited yet?
Well here are two apps to pick up just in time for the holidays. Raging Thunder and BeejiveIM have just dropped in price! [iTunes links]
Raging Thunder is a game you’ve probably heard of before here at TiPb. It dropped in price back in October and once again it has dropped ever further to a deal you should not pass up, $1.99 for a winter blow out sale!
Ok, this next app really needs no introduction, BeejiveIM. From now until Saturday December 27th you can pick this great IM client up for $12.99, saving a few bucks off the regular priced app. The developers also tell us to pay attention to a large update (V2.0) with some changes and improvements coming soon!
Hopefully you will take advantage of these sales! We will continue to keep an eye out for some more sales for the holiday!
Well the forums are still hopping, Round Robin is still going strong, and we have some good threads for you all to check out!
Crackberry Kevin just finished his week with a iPhone 3G and what do you think he had to say about it? Check out Kevin’s review and be sure to share your thoughts about it with us. I tried my best to get through to him, but that is definitely not an easy task. After all, Kevin is the #1 Crackberry addict…
Next up one of our sister sites needs your help. Jennifer of Treocentral is spending the week away from her Treo/Centro and is now using an iPhone 3G. Be sure to drop in her thread and lend her a hand. That thread can be found here: Round Robin: Help Treocentral Jennifer with iPhone 3G.
With all the jailbreak and unlock talk going on lately the iPhone Jailbreak Central is being flooded with all sorts of questions. Jump in there to see if you can help any of our members and if you have a question be sure to post it so someone can help you out!
Last but not least, TiPb would like to remind you all to be sure to check out the 2008 TiPb Award Nominations! Check out these threads after the break! Read the rest of this entry »

If you were waiting for a price drop to pick up your own iPhone 3G, now might be your only chance. AT&T is now offering refurbished iPhone 3G’s on their website. 8GB’s are going for $149.99 and 16GB’s can be picked up for $249.99. Of course these prices require a 2 year service agreement.
Just a heads up on refurbished devices from AT&T:
Refurbished Phones and Devices Refurbished phones are previously owned devices that have been unused or lightly used and returned during the 30-day trial period. Each refurbished phone is independently quality tested and loaded with the latest software to meet current factory standards. Some refurbished iPhone 3G devices will have minor scratches. Refurbished iPhone 3G devices carry a warranty of 90 days or more. For details about the warranty on your refurbished iPhone 3G go to www.apple.com/support/oss/.
So what do you think? $50 price cut on a refurb make you want to finally bite the bullet? Let us know!

Well it is now official, the Dev-Team has updated their blog today to let you all know when the iPhone 3G software unlock will be released. Seems as if New Years eve is what they are aiming for.
- The target release date for the unlock is New Year’s Eve 2008.
- This unlock method is available to iPhone 3Gs that have 2.11.07 baseband or earlier, we did warn you.
- The unlock requires a jailbroken 3G iPhone.
Another bit of jailbreaking related news, a word of warning to all Mac owners: If you are planning on jailbreaking or unlocking your iPhone, TiPb suggests you put the Mac 10.5.6 system update on the back burner until the Dev Team comes up with a solution to the issue. Or you try the following work around:
We believe this behavior is due to a kernel bug not a specific countermeasure by Apple. Possible fixes are (try at your own risk!)
Replace the following plugin kexts from within IOUSBFamily.kext with the ones from 10.5.5 and then rebuild kextcache (if you don’t understand this, then you shouldn’t attempt it!)
- /System/Library/Extensions/IOUSBFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleUSBHub.kext
- /System/Library/Extensions/IOUSBFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/IOUSBCompositeDriver.kext
Use a USB hub in-between the DFU device and the Mac and insert/reinsert the iPhone’s USB cable.
Use a PwnageTool created .ipsw on Windows! Oh the irony!
Again, take heed to their warning, if you don’t understand what they are saying, Don’t Attempt It!
