Fun In the Sun: iPhone Solar Powered Charger/Case

What we have here is a solar-powered iPhone case/charger, from Brando.com.hk, an Asian technology importer. And if you think about it, it’s really not too shabby an idea.

The cost of this clever case is $48 and it is made of black leather, includes a 3.7-volt rechargeable battery, and a built-in photocell. Two versions are available, a flip-top and a side holster.

How long does it take to fully charge your iPhone? 12 hours in direct sunlight. While that is a long time in the sun, it’s better than nothing if you are spending your day at the beach and need battery power. Or if you need some emergency juice, give it a few minutes and you’ll have the battery power for a quick call.

If you try it out, let us know how you like it!

Tip o’ the Week: iPhone Power

The iPhone is an excellent traveling companion, whether you are still sporting the iPhone 2G or loving you some GPS-equipped iPhone 3G. Google Maps, music, movies, and apps are several of the features that make traveling more sublime, but all this functionality requires a lot of juice, and if you haven’t noticed by now, you can’t swap your iPhone battery when you’ve run it dry. What to do? Read on for this week’s Tip!

Review: OtterBox Defender Series for iPhone

Many iPhone cases on the market offer fairly simple protection that serve more for an iPhone owner’s peace of mind than offering extreme protection. The OtterBox Defender Series for iPhone ($49.95), however, is one of the few cases that carefully map and design their product to ensure superb protection.

How does the Otterbox perform? Is it as secure and successful as the case suggests? Or is it just another case in the iPhone pipeline? Could it all be just a gimmick?

Review: mophie Juice Pack Battery Pack/Case for (original) iPhone

In the years before iPhone, my smartphones had replaceable batteries and I usually carried a spare, especially on trips. Inexplicably, the iPhone doesn’t afford this “luxury” — the battery is not user-replaceable and when it’s dead, it’s dead. If you don’t have a charger handy, you are out of luck. This can be particularly frustrating if you are taking a long flight, want to watch a movie on your iPhone’s expansive screen, and still have enough juice left to call someone when you get to your destination.

Enter the mophie Juice Pack Battery Pack/Case for iPhone, available now at TiPB store for $99.95. Read on for the full review! Read the rest of this entry »

Headset Review: The Jawbone 2 Bluetooth Headset

Just off of the reviewing the original Jawbone bluetooth headset comes its sequel: The Jawbone…2. This headset takes what made the original so great and takes it to the next level in terms of size. Does this headset live up to its older brother? Or will its smaller size make it less competitive? What makes this bluetooth headset so great its the noise canceling technology; it is truly remarkable. Let’s start off with the basics though, shall we?
