Forget the Oscars, we’ve got the Steves! Okay, so we’re not really calling them the Steves — they’re the TiPb Readers’ Choice Awards, and while they won’t let you watch Wolverine sing and dance, they won’t consume 4+ hours of your life either. And hey, who needs best picture when we have best fart app? (No, don’t worry, that’s not an actual category — this year!)

Let me start off by saying I’m not usually a fan of any protective skins for any cell phones that are currently on the market. I’ve found that Egrips for iPhone 3G have to sway me in a different direction, however, and I’ve found they can be quite valuable. If you’d like a more confident grip on your iPhone 3G, then Egrips available from The iPhone Blog Store for the price of $14.95, just may be what you are looking for.

Dieter, Chad, and Rene, joined by Jeremy and a plethora of our amazing TiPb readers in the chat room, get together for a fairly wild ride this week. Rene jailbreaks his iPhone live! Running OS 2.2.1, on an OS X 10.5.6 Mac (using a USB hub), he wants it done so he can install and test xGPS before the show ends, can he make it?
For the last few months I’ve been conducting an experiment, trying to figure out whether it better suited my needs to sync my iPhone 3G to my desktop computer, to my laptop, or to embrace the (potential) future and try to sync only over-the-air with the cloud (online services and storage).
First, a little about the contenders.
- My MacBook is purposefully kept light. Aside from whatever temporary I’m working on at the time, it has almost nothing on it, including no media unless I’m actively watching it. It’s speed on-the-go with limited capacity.
- My iMac is heavy duty and also serves as my media machine. It’s connected on one end to a Drobo and serves an Apple TV in the living room on the other. It’s pure power and content, but absolutely no portability.
- My cloud is, well, the cloud — everything I keep on my MobileMe, iDisk and Apple keeps ready for me on their massive iTunes servers.
A month with each of them (Round Robin interuptus notwithstanding) and what were my results? Which have I stuck with (for now)? Read on to find out!
