16% To Get iPhone?

THe most recent Changewave consumer mobile survey releases the information that 16% of those surveyed were planning to get an iPhone. There are some customer satisfaction quotes in there that are worth reading too:

The ChangeWave survey also asked consumers how satisfied they were with their current phone, and found the iPhone registering the highest satisfaction levels of any device. An extraordinary 77 per cent of iPhone owners said they were “Very Satisfied” with their device. The RIM Blackberry also received a relatively high rating, with one-in-two owners reporting they were “Very Satisfied”.

At the other end of the spectrum, just 36 per cent of Motorola owners, 34 per cent of Palm owners and 29 per cent of Sony/Ericsson owners reported that they were “Very Satisfied” with their phones.

blah blah disruptive technology blah blah at the cost of Motorola etc etc.

I don’t know about you, but my hovercraft is full of eels just thinking about it. [via]

Music From iPhone Commercials Available

Folks from iPhone Alley figured out who wrote the iPhone commercial song, and extracted the part that Apple’s been using for the commercials. It looks like the culprits are Orba Squara (iTunes link), and the song is ‘Perfect Timing.’ iPhone Alley is kindly hosting the mp3 for anyone’s use, so if you fancy a download, it’s available. So if you weren’t sick of that music yet, this almost guarantees that you will be soon: YouTube has declared it as mandatory background music for every iPhone clip.

More Unlocking Activity

The folks at the iPhoneDevWiki continue to delight and amaze. They’ve made more discoveries, and have reverse-engineered one of the chip radios (Nucleus) that they need to reverse-engineer. There’s a two-way two-chip communication hurdle to overcome, but they’re a step closer to total unlock, which is their main priority. They still have to co-ordinate the unlocking from the main CPU chip to Nucleus. If you want the gory details, and want to read about baseband memory and the like, check out the post at Gizmodo. If you want the executive summary,

In other words: two doors, two locks, but also one more front to crack this Pandora’s Box open.
