iPhone 3.0

iPhone 3.0 was introduced by Apple on March 17, 2009 at the iPhone 3.0 Sneak Preview Event. Features and functionality were added, expanded upon, and in some cases changed over the course of five betas, released to developers on March 17, March 31, April 14, April 28, and May 6, before Apple re-presented it at WWDC 2009 and made the Gold Master (GM) seed available on June 8. iPhone 3.0 was made public on June 17, and Apple reported 6 million downloads over its debut weekend.
Highlights from among the 100 new features and 1000 new APIs for developers include system wide Spotlight Search, cut, copy, and paste, and landscape keyboard, A2DP stereo bluetooth, support for push notification, turn-by-turn navigation, and USB-dock and Bluetooth integration for peripherals.
