If you fail a credit check, fear not: you’ll still be able to use prepaid. Specifically, Gophone Pick Your Plan.
Apparently, if you fail the credit check in iTunes, it will present a new screen with the option of prepaid plans. I don’t know if your credit takes a ding after the credit check fails. The Boy Genius Report scored a 65 page AT&T document, which is where they dug out the info.
AT&T sent out an email today notifying subscribers that it is limiting the number of iPhones available to one-per-customers. I support this move. The last thing we need on Friday are profiteers swooping in like vultures to buy up most of the supply chain in hopes of making a huge markup on eBay.
We all want an iPhone, and this limitation ensures that we at least stand a fair chance of getting one.
Bit by bit, information is coming out on how the syncing will work, and what it means to have to activate the iPhone before you can use it.
First, AT&T’s return policy has changed: you now only have 14 days to try it out (it used to be 30 days). There’s now also a 10% restocking fee for a return. Don’t worry, though; the contract breakage fee ($175) is still the same if you miss that 2 week deadline. We knew the phone was going to be locked, though it’s a surprise that it may be locked to one SIM card.
Second, you’ll have to activate an AT&T plan before you can even use the iPod functionality of it. Crazy! Without a worth-$3000 2 year plan, that purchase is just a $499 or $599 pretty little brick. Hopefully it will reduce the reasons to steal them. It’s going to be a hot little thing in my pocket, that’s for sure.
Apple has posted a new training video to the site. The trainer is the same as the previous video, and he instructs in the activation of a previously purchased iPhone — you can apparently purchase the iPhone and activate it (as well as select your plans) via iTunes, which hopefully means that the lines will move quickly on Friday.
Apple has also posted information on the rate plans. It looks like they are indeed the new version of the old AT&T Unity plans (see here), as they all include unlimited internet and 200 text messages.
Apple confirmed today that iPhone will require iTunes for activation by end users, bypassing the usual carrier method of accessing an 800 number. Read the rest of this entry »
Apple just sent out a press release announcing the official service plan details and pricing. Individual plans will be priced at $59.99 for 450 minutes, $79.99 for 900 minutes and $99.99 for 1,350 minutes. This is inline with previous expectations. Read the full press release after the jump. CrunchGear has posted user submitted photos of AT&T iPhone kiosks taken at a corporate store in Seattle. No shockers here, we’ve already seen the video of one such kiosk in operation. Expect to see more of this kind of “OMG! I just saw a…” reporting throughout the week as Anarchy Apocalypse day draws near.
Someone has posted a video on YouTube which shows the setup and demonstration of AT&T’s in-store iPhone kiosks the company is currently setting up in select store locations.
AT&T is set to unveil a specialized data plan for iPhone called iPlan. We first heard rumors about this plan in the works last week, and as expected it ain’t gonna be pretty. iPhones users will be expected to sign contracts accompanied by iPlans that start at $34.99, going up to $44.99. This according to Boy Genius Report..
The iPhone data plan will be around $34.99-$44.99 and feature unlimited data, and either 2000 text messages, or unlimited text messages (we still have not confirmed which, but unlimited text messages would be awesome).
The iPhone Blog merged with the Phone different site in May of 2008. Both sites were founded on a premise that comes one from one of Apple's old slogans: Think different. The iPhone Blog: for people who dare to phone different.
