A nicely crafted holster case, and today I’m going to be taking a look at the Krusell Apollo leather case for iPhone and iPhone 3G. This case can be purchased directly from TiPb store for $34.95. Review: Case-Mate Vroom for iPhone 3G

[Ed: New Case-Mate Vrooms in new spectacular colors now available in the TiPb iPhone Store! - Rene]

The iPhone 3G certainly has a ton of case options. Everyone has their own take on what constitutes a good iPhone case—some prefer silicone, others want a hard plastic, some prefer loud cases, others search for more subtle options. We take a look at a lot of cases here at TiPb and there’s a different qualification for the case we’re about to take a look at—this falls under the ‘fun’ category.

The Case-Mate Vroom for iPhone 3G ($14.95) is a subtly-fun designed rubber case. From afar the Vroom case looks like a basic, black silicone case that protects the back of the iPhone 3G. Upon closer inspection, whoa what?! The back has tire tread!

Is this merely a gimmick? How cool is it?

From the Forums: Drawbacks of the iPhone?, Should I Buy an iPhone 3G or Wait?, AT&T Reps Claiming No New iPhone Hardware?, iPhone OS 3.0

The forums continue to grow here at TiPb and that is without a doubt a great thing. We are rapidly approaching a crazy time with WWDC coming up this June so the rumors and new iPhone talk is a buzz. All of the following threads have to do with, you guessed it, iPhone OS 3.0 software and new hardware.

If you are reading this site, chances are you are a big fan of Apple and it’s ever popular iPhone. But with that said, most of us know that it’s not a perfect device. So new forum member, lindawittsell, wants to know what are the 3 biggest drawbacks of the iPhone?

The next thread we have for you today is one for anyone thinking about purchasing an iPhone now or in the near future. The big question being, should I wait for new hardware to be released or bite the bullet now? We here at TiPb think it would be in your best interest to wait but if you see a deal that simply can not be passed up, go for it. One thing is for sure, technology never slows down so no matter when you pick a device up, around the corner a newer better version will become available.

This thread was started by PirateNinja and he may have gotten some false information from a AT&T sales rep. This rep claimed that there absolutely will be no new iPhone hardware this summer. In the end, they are salesmen who want to sell you anything they can. While we are 99% sure there will be new hardware, what types of stories have you heard from other AT&T reps? The best advice we can give you here is don’t believe everything you hear or read. As for me personally, I’ve learned that you get the more accurate information from places like TiPb and it’s forums than you will from any type of sales rep from any cellular company.

Lastly, we would like to point out that if you are a developer or a current user of the iPhone OS 3.0 software be sure to check out TiPb’s iPhone Developer Forum. Feel free to discuss the new features, bugs, unannounced features, etc… Just don’t ask anyone for the software or developer codes or you risk being banned from the forums.

See you on the forums!

AT&T Clearing Inventory? 16GB iPhone 3G Refurbs Online for $149.99

I will be honest here and say I’ve never been a fan of any refurbished products and AT&T is not making refurbished iPhone 3G’s any more enticing. It seems that AT&T has once again gotten some stock of refurbished 16GB iPhone 3G’s and are dumping them for the price of $149.99.

So you’re saving 150 bucks from the price of a new iPhone 3G, but is getting locked into a two year contract worth it at this point as all signs point to a new iPhone coming in the next few months? How about a measly 90 day or more warranty depending on the life of that particular phone? And finally, how about the chance your refurbished phone comes with a few dings and scratches?

Refurbished Phones and Devices Refurbished phones are previously owned devices that have been unused or lightly used and returned during the 30-day trial period. Each refurbished phone is independently quality tested and loaded with the latest software to meet current factory standards. Some refurbished iPhone 3G devices will have minor scratches. Refurbished iPhone 3G devices carry a warranty of 90 days or more. For details about the warranty on your refurbished iPhone 3G go to www.apple.com/support/oss/.

We say pass on this deal and either go in for a new device or hold out until this summer for the rumored new iPhone. If you simply do not care about the above concerns, this deal is for you.

*If you do make this purchase and want to check the status of the warranty go to Apple’s site and input your serial number here.

Next Gen iPhone: Screen Leaks Re-Confirm Video Recording, Voice Control, More!

When it rains, it pours, and when it’s pouring, and leaking, that makes a flood. No sooner did some video-recording iPhone 3.0 screen shot confirmation get posted, than BGR whipped out a slew of their own.

Double confirmed now? And will it require that next gen iPhone hardware?

AT&T Adds International Features Online for Your iPhone

We’ve all heard the horror stories about the iPhone and international traveling. Whether it was data related or voice related, iPhone users have been slapped upside the head with huge bills.

Well now AT&T customers can rest a bit easier — you can now access all of AT&T’s international features online when you log into your account. So if you plan on traveling internationally any time soon be sure to head on over to your plan features and make the appropriate changes. While this will not save you tons of money, at least it will save you a phone call to AT&T’s customer service. That’s a good thing, right?

From the Forums: Landscape Keyboard, Favorite iPhone 3.0 Feature, Beejive IM Giveaway, iPhone Developer Forum

Now that the dust has settled and we now know what to expect “this summer” from iPhone 3.0, it’s only natural to include some more iPhone 3.0 madness in the forums.

Our first thread comes to us from Casper TFG, now that landscape in all apps has been announced will you actually use it? I have tried using the landscape keyboard with email and SMS and I’ve gotten so used to portrait mode that it will take some time, for me personally, to get used to landscape. It’s almost easier to simply use portrait at this point. Nonetheless, it’s a nice feature that many of you will enjoy.

Next up we have a thread that was started by yours truly and it is pretty straight forward, what is your favorite iPhone 3.0 feature? With over a 100 new features added, some more obvious than others, you can only choose one, so choose wisely. MMS? Cut/Copy/Paste perhaps? Let us know what you think!

This next thread was started by Rene and shockingly it is not 3.0 related! You all have a chance to win 1 of 2 free promo codes for a great piece of software, Beejive IM. If you want your chance to grab one, simply reply in the thread. Tomorrow, Monday March 23rd, we’ll pick two lucky winners randomly! Good luck!

Finally, I’d like to mention our iPhone Developer Forum. This is a great place for anyone developing for the iPhone or running iPhone 3.0 software. Come in and compare notes, share interesting features you may or may not have found, share the bugs you have come across, etc… This is not the place to ask for activation codes or for the actual firmware file so please don’t ask.

If you want to get in on the conversation be sure to register first. It’s a quick and painless process so what are you waiting for!?

See you on the forums!

Apple and AT&T Being Sued for Slow 3G Speeds (Again)

If Apple is not being sued over iPhones with cracking cases they are usually being sued for slower than advertised speeds. Lets not forget AT&T, they are involved with this latest lawsuit as well.

This suit has been filed in the good state of New Jersey by Damone Dickerson. Dickerson claims Apple misrepresented the speed, strength and overall performance of AT&T’s 3G network. The lawsuit also claims he could only connect to the 3G network periodically. Can we say “possible fringe area”? According to Macworld the charges against both companies include the following:

Negligence, Breach of Express Warranty, Breach of Implied Warranty of Merchantability, Unjust Enrichment, Negligent Misrepresentation, Violation of the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act and Other Similar State Statutes, and Breach of Contract.

Dickerson is seeking to recover compensatory, statutory and punitive damages. What’s next? Will it come down to all of Apple’s TV commercials for the iPhone being yanked off of the airwaves?
