Tired of the three-percenter Mac population hogging all the iPhone Unlock/Jailbreak/Pwnage goodness for their eye-candied, single-button’ied selves? No longer!
The Windows version of the iphone-dev team’s Pwnage tool, WinPwn, is now available:
Support for both 1.1.4 and 2.0, Custom Image Support, Custom Payload Support, 3g iPhone support
So, if you really want to Pwn your iPhone and haven’t already hunted down that turtle-neck wearing snob at the sushi bar and commandeered the aluminum sliver that passes for his laptop, your Microsoft compatible version awaits…
Another day, another potential problem with MobileMe? Fair enough, some Windows users were made a little hyper-sensitive a while back when Apple included Safari as a pre-selected update alongside Windows iTunes 7.6. An uproar arose, and Apple responded by shifting Safari slightly downward and into its own section.
Now comes word that iTunes 7.7 installed a MobileMe section into Windows Control Panel (similar to the Quicktime section) — whether you use MobileMe or not.
Sure, Apple is engaging Windows users like never before. Their largest iPod and iPhone installed base, Windows users have had Quicktime forever (Microsoft’s own shenanigans in that arena aside), iTunes for a long time, Safari last year, and now MobileMe (kinda sorta, depending on whether or its or not at any given moment). Some, however, are taking issue with the methods of this engagement, and the “trojan horse” like way Apple is choosing to slip new initiatives in alongside established applications.

In this week’s edition: Nothing. Sorry. No time. We’re already lining up for the iPhone 3G. Dieter got here early, but the rest of us are way back, forced to climb over ever-growing mounds of junked Crackberries and WinMobs and about a million Centros — ouch! Heckuva tailgate going on, though. Ballmer keeps breaking out the Monkey Boy while Colligan and Lazaridis take turns timing their virtual keyboarding.
So yeah, sorry. Zip this week. Zilch. But it’s totally not our fault. We don’t even think the sister sites have been updated. (We’d ask Kevin and Jennifer but they’re off playing hacky-sack with Sergey and Larry.)

Windows users love them their XP. No matter how prettier, more secure, and better architected — though admittedly heavier — Vista may be, the PR problems round Microsoft way have made it seem like every user is desperate to keep XP running on everything from their server farm to UMPC.
And now thanks to the folks at Citrix — who rumor has it know Windows at the they-contributed-towards-the-kernel level — could the iPhone be next?
Well, technically no. They’re not really getting XP to run on Apple’s handset, but they are enabling the same kind of remote wizardry they’ve been doing on the Windows side for years.
Using XenDesktop over WiFi, they accessed the aged OS via Citrix Server at the Application Delivery Conference in Melbourne as part of the Keynote.
Pundits and plain folk have been saying for a while now that the iPhone gives you a UNIX box in your pocket, and its nice to see some of that power being harnessed.
